I don't get the muscala hate. He looks so much better than last year to me. Hes going to look much better at pf with a low post presence next to him. Fortunately we won't have to cut him or edy. Magett and Bynum will be the last cuts to get to 15.

The tough part is deciding which 3 will be inactive on a nightly basis

My problem with Muscala is that

1.) He's not a rebounding presence at all
2.) It may be easier for him to operate with Wop in the middle but he's not able to create for himself. No low post moves at all, inconsistent jumper. He's not really a scoring threat at all.

So if I have to choose between a smaller non scoring, non rebounding, non athletic big (Moose) and an undersized non rebounding, athletic tweener who can score (Scott) I'm going with Scott

No hate on Moose but he's very limited in what we actually need from a big on this team

The Hawks ended the preseason with a 97-81 exhibition victory over the Bulls in Omaha, Neb. on Thursday.

On to the regular season.

The exhibition was played at the home of Creighton University where the Hawks’ Kyle Korver and the Bulls’ Doug McDermott starred in different years. Korver scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers. He finished the preseason 11 of 22 from long range in five games. McDermott also had 16 points.

The Hawks (5-2) were led by Dwight Howard with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. The center added three assists and a block. In addition, Kent Bazemore had 15 points, Paul Millsap had nine points, eight rebounds and five assists and Dennis Schroder had seven points and six assist. It was the second exhibition game the Hawks had their entire starting lineup. The starters played between 26-29 minutes, slightly less than normal regular-season playing time.

The Bulls (3-4) were led by Jimmy Butler with a game-high 18 points in 32 minutes.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said the game would be close to a full dress rehearsal for the season. Mike Muscala, Malcolm Delaney, Tim Hardaway Jr., Thabo Sefolosha and Kris Humphries were the primary reserves. Mike Scott, Will Bynum and rookies Taurean Prince and DeAndre Bembry played just five minutes after the Hawks had the game well in hand. Edy Tavares and Josh Magette did not play.

The Hawks open the regular season at home against the Wizards on Thursday.

Muscala's jumpshot is nice. He's shooting real well this preseason. He hitting turnaround jumpers out the post too. Yall will see soon because he is the backup 4 now.

Will Bynum just got released, were down to 16 roster spots

I would think Josh Maggette (only player left on the roster with a non guaranteed contract) would be next to be released

Magette is a D LEAGUE boarder line player. He's a practice body till rosters become official.

The Hawks were the second-ranked defense in the NBA last season. They rank first in the league during the preseason with a defensive rating of 91.2 and rank third in points allowed at 92.1.
