With a new-look starting lineup, center Dwight Howard had six points, on 3 of 7 shooting, with seven rebounds in 18 first-half minutes. Point guard Dennis Schroder had nine points, three assists and three rebounds in 18 minutes.

In addition, rookie DeAndre Bembry finished with 12 points. The Hawks shot 47.7 percent (41 of 86) from the floor, including 7 of 21 from 3-point range. They won the rebound battle, 53-36.

The Grizzlies (1-1) were led by Troy Williams with 15 points.

The Hawks started a lineup of Schroder, Korver, Bazemore, Muscala and Howard.

Paul Millsap (right knee rehabilitation), Jarrett Jack (right knee rehabilitation), Tiago Splitter (right hamstring strain) and Mike Scott (left knee soreness) sat out with injury. In addition, Tim Hardaway Jr. did not play.

Maybe he wanted to give the young guys some burn? Hardaway will get plenty time this season. He looked polished and ready to go in the scrimmage. Can they suit more than 15?

But if he looked polished and ready to go in a scrimmage, why not give him some burn in a game? It's suspect b/c THJR didn't get time for most of the yr last yr & did get sent down to the D League. It's strange to me especially if they expect THJR to be a consistent scoring threat off the bench...I'm not sure if they can suit up more than 15 but with all the guys we have injured that shouldn't have been an issue

Just read that the guys who didn't play are playing a lot tonight. Apparently bud is sitting out groups because he doesn't have enough time to give to 20 guys.

So Coach Bud played the bench against the Spurs. Looks like Edy, Muscala, Prince, Delaney, Humphries, Bembry, and Bynum all had pretty good games. The only sore spot is Hardaway Jr. going 1-13 from the field. He HAS to play better than that.
