I'm just seeing this, but the Spurs deliberately played the tanking game and won. The Lakers won 47 games in 1978-79. Not the same.
If the Warriors do it, it's highly unlikely that #1 pick will be better than Steph during the Finals outside of him playing hurt. I know you're giving respect to Magic but again the eras are too different. The lottery system made what Magic did impossible to replicate even if Player X was good enough.
