Haven’t really heard this Jordan comparison come to forefront in large masses till skip bayless and the media latched on around 2007/08 with lebron and trying to trash lebron every year for not winning and when lebron did win he continued to get heat, because these writers and skip bayless knew that will keep they names out here
Yeah i heard it with others slightly in the 90s and early 2000s but the people and media knew that grant hill career ended with the injury, Kobe patterned his game after Jordan and everyone always brought up oh oh he played with shaq but really didn’t see kobe have a been impact on those championship runs…
Motherfukkers just need to enjoy each era as is and stopped with the bullshyt of trying to compare anyone to MJ , so you can have your clout
And to be fair to Jordan and the whole propaganda stuff… every top 10 goat benefited from some level of convenience to be viewed the way they are.
Magic and Kareem were gifted each other in a weak West.. so 10 years (‘79-‘89) of 8 Finals and 5 ‘ships… in LA at the height of the celebrity/movie star era? Shiiiid. Now imagine if Magic had other-worldly athleticism lol.
Or Shaq, who had the athleticism, personality + similar conveniences as Kareem… imagine if he had work ethic. Top 2 goat convo was right there for him.
Point is, it’s going to be exceedingly harder for any modern player to crack a top 10 goat list. A lot of those era-specific conveniences are nigh impossible to replicate.
At the same time, give credit to Jordan and the greats who got shyt done. Because even if you have certain conveniences… it don’t mean nothing if you flop. Barkley could easily be in Hakeem’s top 10 spot but he choked twice to Dream.
We don’t even acknowledge Hakeem prior to ‘94 now lol. Or Shaq as anything but “most dominant”.
Lol at old heads. If all the “old heads” retired this season and let the younger people take over it roof be the same thing except they’ll just add Lebron.
That's what really happened, the next Jordan came before MJ actually left. Did he reach MJs level? No but he came pretty damn close in the grand scheme of things. Made it seem like the next generational perimeter player with style and skill was just around the corner. Now here we are 25 years later and he's still the only one to come close
We here 40 years later and an athlete like MJ still hasn't come along. The blend of size, strength, agility, quickness, body control... Fags will cry about him playing against plumbers but that doesn't change the fact that you could drop him in today's NBA and he'd be the best athlete in the league

Neither have the explosive lateral movement and change of direction ability. Them hips stiff. It does seem like a lot of today's players are more straight line and vertical. I wonder what's up with that
