Also you have to remember that there were three Cells. The Cell that became perfect that they are fighting came from a timeline where he had everyone's dna but 16 and 17 was killed which is why he took that version of Trunk's time machine to come to this timeline to absorb 16 and 17 to become perfect.

The Z-Fighters were totally clueless of the Red Ribbon Army or anything Dr. Gero did, only Cell knew of his dna bloodline which is why he told Piccolo of the men's dna that Dr. Gero use to make him. Cell was different from the other fighters in that he was godly strong... but he heavily relied on his DNA abilities and techniques to survive. The Z-Fighters were just trying to use brute strength to beat him because A. they had no idea of what Cell was or what he was capable of and B. they are goons that just like to use strength to win but in this case this was their disadvantage.

Cell getting hit by Vegeta's Final Flash and Cell exploding on King Kai's planet should have killed Cell but it was Frieza's DNA that allowed him to survived those injuries.... Piccolo's DNA wasn't enough to do that otherwise Piccolo would have survived that blast from Nappa from the Saiyan Saga.... it was the combination of Frieza and Piccolo's DNA that kept Cell living as long as he did along with the Saiyan DNA that kept steadily leveling him up.

One thing I love about this abridged series is that it points out things in Dragon Ball that I never noticed until now. I always thought Goku's ultimate plan was to have Gohan use his inner rage to defeat Cell and Goku only fought Cell so that Gohan can see how Cell fights so there would be no surprises.



What I never considered is that Cell was so hell bent of having Goku as his ultimate opponent that Cell NEVER really considered anyone to be a greater threat which gave Gohan a great advantage since Cell never really planned against him. Had Cell like when Goku forfeited.... and then had Cell and everyone like when Goku had Gohan take his spot. Bravo Team Four Star yall are the GOATs.

That's because Cell and the androids were designed specifically to fight and hate Goku since he was the one who destroyed the Red Ribbon army when he was a child. What I love is that TFS attempt to explain and fix the flaws that Toriyamas do it as we go along style brought to the original series
