In the Raiders’ only win of the season, running back
Latavius Murray played a major role by running for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against the Chiefs.
Murray did all that on four carries, then suffered a concussion that knocked him out of last week’s 52-0 humiliation against the Rams. Those four carries were impressive, but Murray remains something of a mystery because he didn’t play at all last year and has just 10 other carries this year.
Murray has been cleared to return to action this week and Raiders coach Tony Sparano said the team is looking forward to finding out what the back can do over an extended period of time.
“I
love the way Latavius runs the football,” Sparano said, via CSNBayArea.com. “I like what I’ve seen, but I’ve seen [14] carries. I want to see more of them. I’m curious, too. I’m curious just like the fans are curious.”
There’s not much reason for the Raiders to delay satisfying that curiosity. If his health holds up to an increased workload and he continues to produce at a high level, Oakland will know that they have another piece to build around heading into the 2015 season.
