Uhh, yea and no. The casual consumer loved these songs, the super hip hop purists and “Nas can only make one type of music” Nas fans hated both songs IRTIt actually didn't get hate don't let ANYONE on here tell u different. People in real life fukked with both them songs heavy. It's the reason why when he plays them at his shows it gets some of his biggest reactions. That post is revisionist history actually.
Nas isn't allowed to make club/girl records. Why did it and oochie wally get so much hate back in the day?

In the 90’s, their voices mattered. They were segments of the journalists, album reviewers, radio personalities aand DJsNo one cares about them nikkas tho. They been hating on my boi since IWW. The streets is what I’m talking about.
They didn’t matter to me or none of my nikkas. And this was the late 90s early 00s they def didn’t matter as much by that time. Case in point. I Am got 4 1/2 mics in The Source at the time but u let history tell it the album got panned by critics. The Source literally gave I Am a better rating than they gave IWW.In the 90’s, their voices mattered. They were segments of the journalists, album reviewers, radio personalities aand DJs
Everybody wanted Nas to only put out LYRICAL MIRACLE boom bap rapsWhy did it and oochie wally get so much hate back in the day?
It may not have mattered to you and your crew but it was a conversation, but acting like it wasn’t being panned IRT by some folks is revisionist. Even out here in the west we heard the criticism, i remember feeling lightweight bad for liking the song cuz some of my brother’s (8 yrs older) friends hated it.They didn’t matter to me or none of my nikkas.
