U was 9. There was no flip side. People fukked with the song in real time in real life. What u are experiencing is revisionist history. To the fullest.
I’m sure what you’re saying is 100% correct from a consensus standpoint but I heard people shytting on in real life. I had cousins talking about what’s this Banjo Kazooie shyt, few of the older cats from my neighborhood shytted on it too.

DETROIT (Do Every Thing Right Or It's Trouble)
Although Nastradaumus as a whole was disliked, in realtime the single You owe me wasn’t really hated like that.

Oochie Wally was though.

Both songs jammed in the party scene though :manny:
Hell no, Horse verse went diamond in the streets

I was a DJ during these times. Trust them nikkas was minority but somehow the narrative acts like it was majority.

:dahell: Oochie Wally was a hit in the hood back then. It only got hate from Jay fans when Takeover dropped.
Exactly. If nikkas actually could time travel mad people would be shell shocked at how much history has been twisted up and narratives were created vs how it really was outside back then. lol

People who hated were people who were rhythmically challenged. A lot of thr people who hated "You Owe Me" also hated "If I Ruled The World" and "Hate Me Now". It was a time where purists hated on rap songs with singers, a commercial sound, anything that club or car friendly, even if it was too R&B leaning.

It was disliked for what Nas's standards and fans expected, the same way Sunshine is disliked for what Jay's standards are, but both songs were and are still better than 90% of the stuff released then and now..
