Why did it get so much hate back in the day?
It’s bubblegum. Just the sound of it is some stylized shyt for the radio.

I was 9 years old when this came out and loved it, but I can see the flip side of it.

You have someone who made Stillmatic, It Was Written, straight street shyt….then they come out with something that sounds like you about to get your toes manicured to.

Hip hop 'purists' hated it, but it was liked, kinda loved in my middle school, as far west as San Diego. I actually bought this album around December 1999 from Target for about $12 because of this song. It wasn't the hottest song but if you watched MTV/BET all day, you fukked with it.

Why did it and oochie wally get so much hate back in the day?
It actually didn't get hate don't let ANYONE on here tell u different. People in real life fukked with both them songs heavy. It's the reason why when he plays them at his shows it gets some of his biggest reactions. That post is revisionist history actually.

U was 9. There was no flip side. People fukked with the song in real time in real life. What u are experiencing is revisionist history. To the fullest.
