Who are all these no name jabronis coming to this thread every week?
Half these dudes ain't know there was a 49ers thread at all til it's mid-season and they in their feelings seeing their team getting ranked lower and the analysts picking against them for the first time in a long time.
Bmore finna be an issue because Lamar is an issue. However, I can't help feeling like that center thing is going to be problematic for them.
Someone commented on finesse zone blocking against a physical line like that's not literally why zone blocking became a thing in the first place. Because it's the intended counter for that exact thing. I'm not saying it's necessarily going to work - I am saying the team is much better off running Brunskil over Staley in this game as far as I'm concerned - but that's just the basics. You punish them for overpursuit and you force those heavy, downhill-attacking DEs and DTs to have to move where you want them to and beat them there when you do.
I will say this: this game looks very different if Breida can go at 100%. Him and Wilson got potential to gash that defense with a combination of off-tackle runs and designed short passes like Wilson's game-winner. Breida's speed with the line potentially being able to not out-muscle, but out-maneuver Baltimore's D-line just begs their LBs to have to account for it and start playing closer and trying to cheat for the tackles. And... anyone who knows the west coast offense knows what the means.
Slants. All. fukking. Day.
If I don't see at least two-three hits to Deebo alone on a slant on Sunday, I'm calling the game a goddamned failure, win/lose/draw. Because when it comes playoff time, that is needs to be 1A on 3rd down if Kittle-running-anything is gonna be 1, so getting that thing down is a must. Sanders on an In on opposite side, send Kittle on the post to drag a linebacker away, and Brieda running a wheel... I mean, it's not gonna work every time, but it's Sex Panther: 60% of the time it works every time. This isn't necessarily the game to start trying shyt out, but if you can get that timing and chemistry set before the bright lights of the playoffs hit, it's gonna hurt some teams badly.
(Side note: If Pettis isn't gonna be getting targets... why not let dude go return some punts? It's ,something he was great at, if memory serves. At least get him in there doing kicks. Give him some aspect of the game to get his confidence back, because I feel like that's the hurdle - his mentality. Get him some burn on returns, let bruh get some positive gains with his open-field mobility, and see if that improves his normal play. He's faltering, but I don't think he's AJ Jenkins status yet. That kind of route-running and wiggle just can't be taught, and it isn't like he's never been capable. I don't think Jimmy is gonna trust him for real for the rest of the season, but the rehab can start)
