There are some people who are not educated, and think black is African-American, so they say they aren't black to say they aren't AA. What I don't like about that statement is that they are basically saying AA are not Americans, because when I hear these same people talk about white Americans, they just say American, not white. I just remind myself they aren't educated.

BUT there are a lot of really mean they aren't black as in the black race. Once people get a proper education, and are willing to ACCEPT the truth, things will change BIG TIME. Us blacks in America went through our revolution, along with blacks in the west indies under the french, and British rule, but latins haven't gone through this yet. Probably due to language, and using that to separate themselves. Plus, they have more of a mixture so they can bullshyt themselves more UNTIL they start seeing how they are really viewed by the European nations that really effect them. When they do, the game is OVER.
Werd.

Even worse a lot of them are quick to kiss racist white man ass and diss the black man on the side.

They make it so easy for racist whites to stay in control. It's a damn shame. :snoop:

YEP. Go to some southern town, and they would be considered black people who may be mixed. The funny thing is, that IS what they are.:damn:

And what else do you let rednecks define for you? :youngsabo:

Pretty sure if a bunch of basques from spain go to the same southern town they'd be called mexicans :mindblown:

The point is they are not bullshytting themselves, they know a "black man" when they see one. It would probably be just like that when you go to other parts of the world. Even, I didn't realize a lot of latins thought like this until I started hanging with dominicans in the heights, and puerto ricans from the bronx. I just thought by looking in the mirror, they can see they look just like me or we are at least related, but that wasn't the case. We ate almost the same foods just with different seasonings, liked the same music for the most part, the same type of women for the most part, had the same styles, acted the same, and had the same problems with the system, yet they acted like we were so different. They still had this high, and mighty attitude even though they were worse off then me if you were to look at the big picture.

Over time that shyt wasn't that serious, but their people who just hung with each other, you can sense had some issues with blacks. fukk it. That's their lose because not accepting the truth is preparing yourself for a sad life IF you want bigger, and better things. If you want this American experience outside of the hoods, you better recognize a lot of things, and you guys looking black or at least mixed with white, NOT taino, is one of them.

An example of someone who knows the real deal is Fat Joe. He spoke on this truthfully. Go to 2:42:

Notice, he is known to hang with blacks, and latins. You see the connection of just staying in your group, and having a false sense of reality.

Anyway, have fun believing the lie your parents told you, and their parents told them. Peace.

Yeah they are no different than people like Mariah Carey and Drake. Who actually recognize their African heritage.

Even French Montana and Fat Joe(Puerto Rico) recognize it.

Cuban Link recognized it too with PRIDE, so all latins aren't like that.

I never said I'm better then you, I just said you have the thinking of someone who just been around people like you.

Don't you want to stay in houses that you are going to own, not apartment buildings renting?. Have a car or two, and some freedom?. That is what I meant by having the American experience, and you needing to change some of your thinking to get there. Yes, race plays a part in getting that experience, at least enjoying it.

You took it as disrespectful, because you're sensitive. When I stated how some latins acted towards me, they literally thought they were better then me because I was black/black American, not because of the way I thought, and they wanted better for me. I remember one said some funky shyt to me about living in a certain area, that they thought was bad because they saw blacks were there, and I looked at them like they were crazy. That changed when they saw some white people. All night they were throwing shade at me making innuendos about how hard their parents worked to get where they were at, with no help from the government. Mind you their parents weren't doing that well to me, compared to how they were making it sound. This all started because I was living better then they were, and I guess it was a blow to their ego. It was just some dumb shyt they were talking.

I have numbers of stories like that. When I call them out on being prejudiced(they can't be racist, they have no power), they try to make it seem like I'm reaching, when I'm not. One got mad at her friend, and admitted it to me, and I didn't even start the conversation about color. Everything I posted here she admitted was true.

If I came off condescending, that wasn't what I intended, but reread what I posted with no emotion, so you can see the meaning behind it, you can learn something new if you want to. Peace.

The "BUCKEYE" Nation
Dominican identity is a lot more complicated than a lot of you all are making it out to be. A large percentage of their identity stems from the Haitian occupation, which wasn't exactly benign.

Not to pick on Haitians, but some of them have attitudes towards black Americans, and Africans that are just as, if not more draconian than Dominicans. I was listening to Talk of The Nation, and a Haitian American woman said her parents told her and her sister not to marry black men.
Interracial Marriage And The Extended Family : NPR
I was listening to The World, and during the story some Haitians remarked that they call each other African as a pejorative, or insult to each other.

I'm rican/dominican and irl i never really rocked with my dominican side at all, i rock with AA way more than them but the sh!t i've read on here brings out my inner trujillo :wow: I've been around plenty of different backgrounds maybe that's your problem? You don't seem to be able to grasp that other cultures can see things such as race differently than you.

The bolded in another example of more of your condescending bullsh!t :childplease: my mom owns & rents a brownstone in manhattan. Why don't you hand out leaflets or something about the ''American experience'' to all the African American women marching into Dominican salons daily or all the loser African American men hanging outside of bodega's? :youngsabo:

I'm from Harlem duke, you really want me to list all my negative experience with AA? :pachaha:

I have a question. Why do so many (not all of course) Dominicans dislike AA's but adopt our style speech patterns and MUSIC? If you don't want anything do with being black why not adopt a more mainstream (say heavy metal for instance) aesthetic or something? I'll ask this same question of Puerto Ricans too because a lot Puerto Ricans are closet racist although they like to front.

the biggest problem I have noticed with this issue is a lot of people don't understand the difference between race ethnicity and nationality
