They either try to get you with corny jumps, a shadow figure behind a person, and loud noises...or with blood and gore..both of which im immune to at this point. Plus scary movies have terrible dialougue. They need to work on the plots and think of something creative.

My idea for a horror movie, is a pretty time worn plot of a handful of friends on vacation, somewhere in Cancun, or Baja Sur, Tijuana, something along those lines, and of course, run off track a little, or just through a series of coincidences.... and run afoul of siacrios, who are disposing of bodies, or torturing people, and have to survive a night of 24 hours in a rural/urban area as they are hunted by these people. If you know anything about drug violence in Mexico, there is a lot of material there. I'd want it to be similar to 'The Descent' in tone and style, very authentic, cinematagraphy like 'Place Beyond Pines', none of that slick, soulless 'Evil Dead' remake shyt...

One thing that can save the scary movie of today is clowns.Clowns use to scare the fukking shyt out of me.Whether it was killer clowns from outer space,It or that toy clown in poltergeist.Clowns would fukk a kids childhood the fukk up.My grandmother had this little clown statue and i would stare at that shyt and i swear he moved his head one time.Got to a point where i would hide all clown shyt in the house in the closet.

Man, when I was a kid I was fukkin terrified of vampires. Now you can't make a good vampire flick because they've been so pussified these last few years. Salems Lot and The Lost Boys are 2 of my favorite movies and you just don't see shyt like that anymore. I remember watching Lost Boys for the first time as a kid and that had a nikka shook and couldn't sleep for shyt. Now vampires are all sensitive and friendly and shyt :wtf:

It's also that most us aren't kids anymore. As a grown ass man, it should take a lot to have you scared and not able to sleep.

Yeah, I rarely like any vampire related stuff now. The recent media on them that I've liked was a Korean flick called Thirst, it had a fresh take on vampires and the vampires from 30 Days of Night were kind of scary.

We need less zombies and undead shyt, and more occult, demonic shyt.

Thats why films like Kill List and Eyes Wide Shut are scarier to me than any haunted house/slasher film. The occult is scary as fukk...things that real living HUMANS can do behind closed doors are actually believable and still scary as hell

They get props because they built tension well in their early acts...it's just that both completely lose steam as they move along.

Foreign Horror is the way to go, but even those have been lacking. I really liked A Tale of Two Sisters though and Haute Tension (High Tension) was a better slasher flick than pretty much anything to drop our way in a long time.

Yea, I didn't like the endings to both of them, but there was so much piff beforehand in both that I forgave that

And are any of these foreign horror movies you all speak of on Netflix?

A Tale of Two Sisters used to be but idk if it still is. Haute Tension, I've seen on some of the movie channels dubbed.

Actually, ambience and background music is what makes the horror film good. Most of the films I have watch have either a techno or rock music :wtf:

Check out some foreign stuff, Japanese horror can get pretty creepy.

Also there's a manga titled Fuan no Tane(and Fuan no Tane plus) that is a bunch of short little tales that is best read at night. A lot of them are just creepy and nothing is really explained in them but some of the faces and ideas in those stories will just...you know what just read through it at night. In the dark. With no background noise, for me my mind began to wander with each story I read and the back of my neck started to feel funny and when I left the computer my mind kept thinking about the stories. Had to watch some cartoons to get my mind off it . Not all of the stories are great but just keep reading them until you finish, each story is unrelated to each other and they're all like 3 or 4 pages long.

But that sounds like what you want, the type of real horror that will make you keep thinking about it. The kind of horror that has your imagination running wild when you're walking down a dark street at night or even when you're walking from the computer to your room in the dark. The kind of horror that follows you before you go to sleep at night, the kind of horror that makes you want to turn on the lights, the kind of horror that makes you constantly keep looking behind you, the kind of horror that makes you afraid to walk into a dark room in your house even though you know nothing is in there but your mind is tricking you into believing that you should be scared.
