No one is saying the Genre will be dead. After "Superman 78", Comicbook/Superhero films are here to stay. But that doesn't mean there won't be flops or films that don't perform. There could end up being several flops on that list.

At their core they are just action movies though.
this is a good point. the action genre has been overrated shyt for eternity. these spice it up. people were excited when Expendables and crap like that came out - those movies suck balls. put them in masks and add supernatural shyt to the fold and you've all of a sudden got a fun movie.

Sorry but I like Traditional Action movies. I don't like how they are using the Comic Book/Superhero films to kill off REAL action films. I agree Stallone dropped the ball with the Expendables franchise cause it seems at the end he was just trying to get his friends checks and not make a GOOD action movie but I don't knock him for trying to bring Traditional Action back. At least with films like "The Matrix" though they had a comic book element it was still hard core action. These Super Hero films are killing off Action Films and Martial arts films. I don't like that.

Vin? The Rock? Jason has been doing tradition action flicks. There out there but the projects are not being greenlit cause Hollywood is obsessed with adapting a comic book.

it's a dead genre. everyman army dude fighting bad guys is like softcore porn at this point. what's the point of making them? straight action should never even be attempted again without at least an "adventure" added to it. Sci-fi action, comic action, comedic action, etc. There should never be another Rambo type movie made.

And the Rock was poised to be the biggest action star in the world. his most memorable role will be a superhero/villian in the end. Same for Momoa, possibly for Diesel if rumors of him taking another Marvel role come to fruition.

The only action franchise going strong at this point is what? Fast and the Furious?

I'm actually surprised the genre hasn't really started to fall off yet. I love superheroes and remember being a kid wishing everyone would get a movie but now it feels like it's too much.

So there's no point is making a tradition Action flick? But making 2nd teir comic book heroes is OK? The Action genre is where it's at is cause Arnold and Stallone got old and The Rock and Vin started making kids movies. Saying there should never be an "Rambo" is short sighted. As Rambo 1 and 2 are Classics. Actually "Rambo 4" did solid numbers so their is an audience out there. Maybe the model from the 80's is done but that doesn't mean there can't be a new model. I feel Liam, Keanu and Denzel are proving action movies still have their place in the market. "Equalizer" and soon "Taken 3" and "John Wick" are a breathe of fresh air in this overdose weak comic era.

Marvels numbers are keeping it aflout. Trust me there will be some flops, I don't think "Ant-man" is going to do that great. It's just there to many BIG comic movies dropping like "The Avengers 2" or "Bats Vs Supes" you know those are going to kill the Box Office. But I think audiences will turn on the genre in the next 5 years, it's just too much.

Equalizer came and went without so much a whisper. people go see Neeson movies for some reason despite the fact Taken is an overrated franchise. his BO appeal is slowly dying too, I don't think Tombstones crushed. John Wick won't make dikk.

just accept it. soon enough all you're gonna get are small indie revenge movies with elements of the old action genre. it's dead.

Ah, 'Equalizer" is another 100 Million Hit for Denzel. "John Wick" is getting some of the best reviews for an action film in awhile. And Liam is KILLING the "Action" genre, Yes "Tombstone" did n't do great but he took a generic Airplane thriller "Non-stop" to blockbuster status. "Taken" is going to be a Billion Dollar franchise after Part 3.
