Tony made the mistake of trusting someone with bad intentions. Cody isn't trying to change the face of professional wrestling at all, he's trying to show Vince that he made a mistake by not making him a more important part of the WWE.

It struggles when the product is bad, but even when they've been bad the WWE still had Snickers, KFC, Skittles, Burger King & other top brands as did WCW when they were good. Any business/sport that's not making any money won't have many sponsors, and trust if the NFL ratings ever hit the low 1s then every alcohol & shoe company would jump ship. If AEW was being run better I believe that they could attract some bigger sponsors who feel like they're a part of some new exciting upstart group. I could see AEW being sponsored by Budweiser in the future if they got their shyt together.

Tony is getting more responsibility not less

The wonders of nepotism. Good for him. I concede him getting more responsibility with his father's toys . I just hope that you're not using that to dismiss concerns of Tony's competence because it's still not a measure of competence. NFL franchises are insulated there is no financial consequence for failure if you're an owner because of revenue sharing and the sporting consequences for failure are mitigated through the draft. It makes money in spite of itself. Which is why I didn't bother to mention the Jaguars (who are a terribly run franchise anyway) in my post.

I mentioned Fulham specifically because in an environment where teams aren't rewarded for being terrible they've failed. The Khans inherited an established Premier League team in 12th place in the table that was 3 years removed from a European final and that had spent the previous 12 uninterrupted years in the top division and they got them relegated in their first season. They've spent all but 1 season in the second division since then. In the 1 season they managed to gain promotion to the Premier League they became the first team to spend over £100M in a season on new players and get relegated and that was with Tony being directly responsible for the signings as the Vice Chairman and Director of Football Operations.

AEW doesn't enjoy the insulation of an NFL franchise. There are consequences for failure (getting booted off TNT for one) and in an environment with consequences he hasn't thrived... yet anyway . I hope he does, not to make WWE better or whatever but so wrestling fans have another easily accessible place to watch good wrestling and wrestlers have another place to work and show off their craft without the WWE. AEW is providing 1 of the 2 so far and long may it continue and hopefully they get the second one right.
