Isn't it just using the Microsoft Authenticator app? I don't even think I use a password for Microsoft stuff anymore.

Yeah they started pushing that on all office users a little over year or so ago and people creating accounts during that period were prone to some weird fukkery happening in the back end. It's probably a lot better now but being on the front lines of that transition gave me PTSD
