Direct X took a gamble on Ethernet while Windows ce were used to dial up from the work they did on the Dreamcast
Windows CE were the corporate favorite because of their experience with Dreamcast and 3DO and direct x were the young rebellious underdogs
They beat windows CE cause the Direct X team on the fly right in front of Bill Gates modified a PC to boot up instantly just like a typical console does….Bill shyt his pants right there and chose Direct X gang

Xbox 360 just launched on all fukking cylinders...The dude bro section was taken cared of, the niche animu weaboo section was taken cared of with fantastic japanese support, transition to perfect online gaming.....creativity was just at a level that still to this day is elite PS2 level....

Its really a double edged sword when talking about him...he was a visionary and knew technology. shyt he's damn near the reason Netflix became what it was because of his genius idea put a digital netflix platform on xbox...which was unheard of at the time....
But I think his love for technology was too much for what made people love Xbox....community and fun games. Yes Kinect is fantastic next level technology, but is it something XBOX players asked for is the question that should have been asked....
But I don't think Don is solely to blame.....He definitely had Steve Balmer in his ear.....And Steve all about what makes money....and seeing Wii raining dollar bills, of course it would be just like him to follow the money

I don't think people talk about the Steve Balmer era of Microsoft enough at all considering that how Microsoft lost it's market dominance and chasing short term trends at the expense of being left behind, however, he was making the company profit, so it won't really be brought up.
