Like said a few posts above, there are proposals to regulate lootboxes cuz they are similar to gambling. Idk if the US has laws against lootboxes yet although I know other countries do. Governments are only okay with gambling if they can get a cut. Gambling is also seen as having negative effects on people and particularly children who could be playing the games
