Ryan Coogler's X-Files Reboot Is Apparently Still Happening

The Sinners director hinted at wanting to get original star Gillian Anderson involved somehow.

Speaking on a recent episode of Last Podcast on the Left (via Screen Rant), Coogler said he plans to hit the ground running, working on The X-Files once the dust has settled from his Sinners press tour.

“I’m working on X-Files. That’s what’s immediately next,” Coogler said. “So, I’ve been excited about that for a long time, and I’m fired up to get back to it, and that, you know, some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really fukking scary.”

While not much is known about what Coogler’s take on the iconic sci-fi series will be, show creator Chris Carter previously said the Black Panther director plans to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast.

I’ll support it but I just wish this wasn’t an X-Files Reboot. But he did rebooted Rocky and we gotten Creed from it. So maybe lightning strikes twice, wish bro the best. At least call it something else tho.

No way a modern xfiles could touch og. Hes dope but na. Perfectly cast show. Perfect setup for years.

They would NEVER hit on that irl conspiracy shyt ever again. It would come off like a modern thriller without the irl setups.

That first ep real ep after pilot they go out together to the air force base, mulder and pilot come back with brain erased. Guys eating fishfood. shyt wss scary.

Creator was obviously up on all the conspiracies of the day because his show read like it came off of the pages of behold a pale horse.

Itll be way light. If old xfiles were made today theird be an epstein island ep, demons, etc.


But with that said. I wan see it. Xfiles deserves twilight zone type long form comeback like star trek etc. Its a real classic.

Mulder & Scully out in sunny LA never did quite feel right, and those last flimsy comebacks don't exist to me

Its hard to have new characters take over a franchise. They need to be interesting characters not just a rehash of the old ones. It would be cool if they had Mulder & Scully in new positions - Scully now head of the FBI or something, and Mulder feeding the new agents info from the shadows.

I hope its good either way, one of my favorite shows.
