The last time wrestling would have appealed to a teenager is either in the 2000s or the early 2010s when CM Punk was on the rise. Whatever they're doing now isn't going to get more eyes on it.

For years, they've closed themselves off from pop culture and watered down the product at the same time. Now, they're in a weird place where they don't want to make any drastic changes or embrace pop culture but they want pop culture to embrace them and talk about them. That's how you get situations like last year's Teen Choice Awards when they tried to get D-list celebrities to talk about Evolution and half of them didn't even know what it was.

I don't think anyone is excited about the words or the acts.. it's more that they ain't cutting promos saying "poopy pants" and shyt like that.

I have a teenage brother that's into hit shows like Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, and whatever holds his attention span. You win viewership with solid presentation, good and consistent character building, and, in wrestling's case - entertaining fukkery. Teenagers aren't stupid like kids aren't stupid. The moment you give them a reason to opt out, they will.

That’s how it was from 2007 to 2010 for me, in 2007 everybody in school fw wrestling but when they went PG people stopped fukkin with it like that, the next time people at my school was really talking bout wrestling was when Brock beat Taker.

I don’t know if WWE even realizes how corny they made their product, shyt should’ve been on PBS Kids. They think that 13-14 year old kids are sensitive to curse words, sexual content, and mature complex storylines when it’s actually the opposite.

This. I remember from 98-01 (I was 11-14), and people were rabid ass fans. You couldn’t find anyone that wasn’t watching and talking about it. You were out of the loop if you weren’t talking about Raw or SD. That feeling started fading in 02/03, but you at least still had a lot of big names. Rock, Austin, Taker, Kane, RVD, Booker T, Big Show, etc. After that though....my goodness, it was a gradual descent to the bottoming out of now. I have a couple coworkers that i know watch wrestling, but none of us REALLY engage each other in convos about it The WWE simply singlehandedly made themselves uncool, and it didn’t happen overnight. There’s a reason why they have to do this near desperation pandering all the time, along with these self-congratulatory type antics.
