This is the so called "golden generation". I don't know why ppl on here rate them.

No one actually rates them. We only talk about how they had top notch players but never achieved shyt.
IMO they were better than the current Belgian and French team, just never had a good coach
David James, Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell ,Ashley Cole( GOAT PL left back), Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Owen, Rooney

We cant put it all on the coaches. They had different managers

Sven-Göran Eriksson
Steve McClaren
Fabio Capello

Like someone said earlier...names on paper don't always translate into a good team. They were always missing a creative mid and were completely devoid of any ideas. England hasn't had one since Gazza. Gerrard charging around the pitch doesn't do shyt. He was trash for England and in any case couldn't play with Lampard. Rooney was trash for England....Scholes called it quits kinda early and wasn't really around like that.

Also while those players were good..a lot of it was hype as well because they're good English players in the EPL.

If you look at the squads of the other teams at that time :hubie:

Italy: Buffon, Cannavaro, Nesta, Del Piero, Totti, Pirlo

Netherlands: Van Der Saar, Kluivert, a young Sneijder, young Robben, De Boer, prime Van Nistelrooy, Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Overmars

France: Prime Vieira, Pires, Zidane, Henry, Desailly, Thuram Trezeguet, Makalele

They were average when you put them against contemporary teams.

Say what you want about Kane, but in my eyes Salvatore Schilacci is still the WOAT golden boot winner :francis:
3 penalities
1 accidental deflections
2 point-blank putbacks

Half his goals against a terrible Panama side, 0 goals in the knockout rounds

12 "shoulda passed it but was trying to goalhog so I missed the net entirely" shots

No one will ever overtake Kane for worst golden boot ever
