this doesnt really make sense. it depends on how you root for a country. if you think a countrys national team is tied to its political history, government and society than you shouldnt ignore how you feel just to root for a team that has some black players.

im not saying that you should root for france or croatia in the final bc ill honestly be happy with either team winning (although im rooting a little more for france). and its fine if someone personally wants croatia to win because they hate frances history with black people, or if they want france to win because of its black players.

Tbf, I didn’t really dislike this team as much as I did the others. Sterling, Pickford and Rashford are some of my favourite players in the league. You guys just needed some extra fluidity in your midfield to give yourselves an added threat- you can’t just rely on set-pieces all the time. This might be an unpopular opinion but I really think that the FA should look into hiring Wenger as manager- he’ll work wonders with your team imo,

So I still believe the 2002 - 2010 English teams were better than the current one.

The 2002-2006 English teams were good, the 98 team was also good they played 3 at the back and went toe to toe with a good Argentine team. People mention their midfielders but i always thought England had more talent in defence. Sol Campbell, Rio,Terry,Cole were world class at their positions. They were let down by coaching and 4-4-2 which shoehorned players into roles they didn't play at club level.Southgate may have had some personnel wrong but he moved away from the past set ups. Gerrard and Lampard played with Xabi, Mascherano, Makelele, Essien, Ballack often behind them and yet the NT coaches thought they could play them as a midfield 2. The time they put Hargreaves in they were cohesive.
