They aren't overlooking them at all. The U.S. is the stronger team. They have the number one ranked defense, number one ranked goalkeeper and they just beat the number one team in the world. On top of that, their offense is finally in synch. If the U.S. plays their game to their maximum strength, there is no reason that they should lose to Japan.

Literally what happened 4 years ago. The US will need to counter...but we have a back 4 now that can bully Japan off the ball. We did NOT have that 4 years ago...but still is still the most sound team of the tournament.
Even if USA wasn't in sync last cup, Japan was a straight up Cinderella story. I think they played like 3 games before the cup or something like that. I'd say their chances were better then. Now Japan can believe in themselves. But I do believe US will win.

I see where you're coming from. Japan should feel more confident since they beat the U.S. before. However, this a much stronger U.S. team that has final put all the pieces together. They just need to go out there and play their style.
