If they strike that just means the arenas have more open dates they can hold events people actually want to see. Should be a nice revenue generator for the owners.

They're betting that the touchy-feely, "we empower everybody" type of commish that Adam Silver is trying to be can't afford to tell a bunch of (mostly black) women to deal with that pay scale without looking bad.
They're also betting that the owners want to look like they care about empowering women and will pay extra to do so.
