in season housing breh, if you got a kid you gotta care for during the season, they hitting you off with a spot that can accommodate you and them in separate rooms (as opposed to a 1bd) and a child care stipend• Players will receive full salary while on maternity leave, an annual childcare stipend of $5,000, and guarantee of two-bedroom apartments for players with children.
This the most interesting thing to me. So she get knocked up and they give her a crib?
Is that bump in pay really enough of an incentive to prevent players from playing overseas?
Wouldn’t the team just bump up the pay to get them to change their minds especially since they don’t have a salary cap overseas I believe?
The WNBA has been marketing themselves towards woman and that hasn't been working. Women don't watch women's sports in large numbers.
They need to start marketing themselves toward male fans. Which means, making the uniforms more sexy. No reason for females to be rocking the long ass shorts like men do. give them short shorts or yoga pants. Make the tops tighter. etc. Use the sex appeal to get the numbers.
this is not the reason women's tennis competes...women's hoop and men's hoop are day and night aesthetically, that's it, that's all. that's why women's hoop cant compete when women's tennis, track, soccer can compete better, relatively, with their male sport. until they adjust the court to women's size/strength, they'll always struggle
How much can the WNBA realistically bump up pay when they've yet to turn a profit in their 25 year history?
