I suppose we keep missing each other on the point, so let me be clear where I stand.

Nothing Chris did justifies Will's action.

Will has done enough good in this world to face the consequences solely off the incident that happened, and nothing more. This is a stain, but nothing that can't be cleaned up based on how he moves forward.

Chris already declined to press charges, that in itself was a big fukking deal. We need to stop acting like he needs to do more and leave him to go forward from here. Will can get redemption whether or not he reconciles with Chris, but it isn't on Chris to do anything until he is ready to.

The Black media has a responsibility to treat Will and Chris fairly as possible. That will no stop the white media from pulling him down. That's what happens when a good black man makes a public mistake. There is nothing stopping Will from recovering from this, however, as time heals all.

Ultimately Will fukked up. With that comes consequences, but he has done enough good to be forgiven and move on.

I think this incident shows how we need to hold our own down. We can admit someone fukked up, but we don’t need to give these white people the ammo they need to cancel them.
