I haven't been commenting on this whole situation given all the thought pieces already circulating, but I do get the feeling that somehow people aren't talking enough about Chris Rock. Like he's criticized for the joke, then obviously everybody's talking about Will and Jada, and the Oscars in general, and the organization, and the limits of comedy etc...but not many seem to be talking about Chris Rock as a person who got smacked on possibly one of the biggest nights of his career and in front of millions of people, and who will see that image thousands of times on the net.

Call me cynical but I hear this and I see this interview as keeping the Academy out of a lawsuit.

He's saying the joke wasn't scripted - but wasn't there some white dude taking credit for the joke?

He's saying it was Chris's choice to not have Smith removed - why would that even be Chris's choice?
