I think producers are giving pause for a few months for A-list projects until he comes under public interrogation. Either he takes a break for his acting career for a little bit (which he won't), he takes lower budget movies (which he won't), or he goes in front of the Hollywood elite and just talks through what he was going through at that moment.

Hollywood doesn't want to cancel him, but they do guage public sentiment when casting.
