What do you think the police is going to do over a slap?

Bit weird of people saying "He got away with it because he's rich and famous", whilst calling for him to be imprisoned and sued for millions.

In the real world, not much is going to happen over slap. The police are not going to do much about. At most, you'd get a caution if the person is adamant about getting justice for their bruised cheek.

He didn't mention the criticism, He's talking about the support. Basically wants to everybody to join in (aka lynch) him together. Will has been getting plenty of criticism though, and as you said it was deserved.
For Jim Carrey and others though, that doesn't seem to be enough, and i believe that stems from something more sadistic than righteous.
At the end of the day dude was slapped. he'll be fine. No need for a call to arms
