He didn't mention the criticism, He's talking about the support. Basically wants to everybody to join in (aka lynch) him together. Will has been getting plenty of criticism though, and as you said it was deserved.
For Jim Carrey and others though, that doesn't seem to be enough, and i believe that stems from something more sadistic than righteous.
