Why would Will deliberately spoil his potential Oscar win by staging an incident where he slaps a black man?

That was REAL!!! Do you know how important an Oscar win was for Will? Jada was even calling the Oscars racist for not nominating Will for that NFL concussion movie. You think he would do some ignorant ish like this for CLOUT? He's Will Smith. He doesn't need "clout".

To be fair the votes were counted way before the show, so the slap was not going to have an effect on him winning or not

I still can't believe people are taking this seriously like it wasn't pre planned.

The Oscar's have been seeing a decline in ratings.

There is an understanding that controversy and memes are the new way of promoting a product or event.

What other event have you ever seen where a guest is assaulted in front of everyone, then allowed to give a full speech afterwards and is allowed to stay for the whole thing? The Oscar's are an industry award recognizing your peers. That's like someone running up to a student getting handed their diploma on stage and hitting them and being allowed to sit back down like nothing happened.

Now people are going to remember how crazy this Oscar's was and the 'viral moments' and will be more likely to watch the next one to see another 'unscripted' crazy thing happen. Tag this post for next year. You'll see.

If this was actually real, we would have video footage of Chris Rock or someone affiliated with him trying to see will Smith. Very few people in entertainment can be compared to Denzel Washington.
The vast majority of people play politics just like in any other profession. And in playing politics, you chose your battles. People run up on comedians after the fact all the time. Will was probably going to press Chris backstage, but he felt the public disrespect warranted public checking.

This is what im getting at.

If Will was offended from the start, and then he looked at his wife and she was offended as well. Then they're both on the same page and what Will did would make more sense.

But if Will was shown laughing at a joke about his wife, and it took her expression to let him know that shyt wasn't funny to her, then Will should've handled that after the ceremony.

Its like Will don't know how to lead in his house.
