We've all known this was coming. Nobody except trolls, pedos, and racists are happy with the current state of the internet. It's an issue that liberals and conservatives can agree on. Content providers who are getting raped by piracy and your ISP are probably thrilled.

People who want to remain anonymous on the internet will still be able to do so.

Petitions, waivers, pirate radio, make videos on getting more people informed on the the end of their freedoms to get people more active.

won't happen
it would be the same as having open voting ballots so anyone can figure out who you voted for, which will be a thing eventually (and a good thing too) but not in this current society

:beli: Remember it was said here first by tmonster folks.
this would destroy the internet and turn it into a bad shopping mall
not only that people would form private online circles which they could not market to

this would be a disaster for the gov

And?

Destroying X and turning it into a market is consistent with the story of American capitalism. That's our approach to everything from foreign intervention to education to climate change to health care.

destroying the reason people come to the internet will reduce traffic and revenue
it's the equivalent of reducing foot traffic near your business

I guess. Seems more like a precursor to fully monetizing the internet. Less piracy, easier way to tax consumers, even more data for marketers.

Imagine a world where you could back-bill internet users for all the illegal content they've downloaded or penalize anonymous posters for hate speech.

For the record, I'm against all of that, however, the old dinosaur politicians who pass legislation written for them by the the interest groups that run the internet will be able to agree with this kind of thinking on both sides of the political aisle.
