My first time pre-ordering an album EVER:

As a dude that's been a fan since first seeing that fan made video of "Loft Music" back in 2011 (any of y'all remember that? I can't even find it), it's amazing to just sit back and watch his entire movement spread like an infectious virus infecting the masses - multiple songs charting, numerous accolades, and awards, great guest appearances (altho he does them sparsely), AND he already has classics to his name.... This XO shyt can not and will not stopped :banderas:.

Hide your bytch Friday August 28th because that day she Belongs to the World :demonic:.
Can't believe he is just getting traction with the masses 4 yrs later. Hopefully the album is better than the first few mixtapes

Nah, he's pretty much had traction since his first official release, which he has a platinum plaque to show for it, and Kiss Land, which is on the cusp of gold. It's just that everything is now is that much more amplified.... I'm actually surprised that he's managed to garner this type of buzz for himself. In this day and age of artists constantly whoring themselves out for attention via interviews, videos, and all types of social media (and they still flop)..... Comes The Weeknd who has literally let his music do all the talking, and buzz creating for him - a real throwback artist in that regard....

And his first 3 mixtapes/albums are not just some small feats that'll be easily topped:whoa:.

i looked this up because i actually didn't believe it...i read that he sold gold but since it was a triple disc, it was counted as being platinum by the RIAA as they counted each as an individual release. still impressive for something that was free first.

kissland didnt sell that well and most people were disappointed with it

but i always felt like he was known to us music lovers and thots and drake stans but he never blew on the mainstream..but now that he did a song with ariana grande he has an entirely new fanbase as well

either way i've been a fan since day one and i hope its on par with those releases

black love, unity, and music
So we have grown men standing r&b singers now? :heh:

The game has certainly changed man....:pachaha: I can't imagine people stanning Keith Sweat and Gerald Levert with the same intensity.

Carry on kids, carry on....

EDIT: I actually like the Weekend and will probably be buying his album.
