This album was not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. A few weeks ago I remember listening to "Can't Feel My Face" and was begging for that dark Abel. Really wasn't in the mood for pop then, and I'm still not, but listening to this album track by track really got me to appreciate his work. Can't fault him for trying to venture into a new style and evolve as an artist, that's how you get better. Moving on, I thought BBTM was very fun to listen to. Could definitely envision myself listening to this while I'm cruising to the beach.

On second listen I just can't fukk with this brehs. People responding to criticism of him saying hes evolved, he gave us 3 free albums, hes getting money, his subject matter is still the same, etc :camby: I don't expect to listen to conscious shyt from Future. I don't expect to listen to trap shyt from Drake. When I listen to the Weeknd, I don't expect to hear generic pop songs or power ballads.(Seriously, that last song Angels sounds like the chorus to this. Just obnoxiously overproduced like an 80s pop rock band)

Sorry, shyt like in the night and as you are is not why I checked for the weeknd back in 11. So forgive some of us not feeling this change. Hes wants to be pop/mainstream, fine. But hes is not above criticism. With that being said, the only deco tracks outside the already superior singles are tell your friends and the second half of acquaintance(because of the born in the 90s mashup which is a shame its left off because its flame) The rest is either dull or outright :trash: His weak writing, which was hidden behind Doc's goat production, is fully exposed here imo. Some of the lyrics and subject matter, esp when hes not singing about drugs/wild sex, is lacking. Disappointed

Just finished it. The first half is decent, but the album takes a big step down on the second half. Didn't really like either of the duets much.

Tell Your Friends is the standout track on this album.

Shameless and In The Night have to be the worst Weeknd songs I've ever heard.

Overall the album is like a 5-6, though I could understand if someone gave it a 7.

I haven't liked the majority of his music since Thursday tho, so feel free to disregard my opinion.
