they had to do something and jimmy is a guy even this season who is giving you a positive impact. everyone that got shipped off had a negative on/off. schroder move didnt work and imo kerr stuck with him as a starter too long, he was a little bit better lately but they probably werent even making the play-in as prevoiusly constructed.
the heat only had a slightly better offensive rating than the warriors this season 112.9 and 17th to 112.1 and 20th, but the heat had a 119.6 rating with butler on the floor with only 2 teams this season having a better offensive rating, 110.6 with him off the floor which would be bottom 5 in the nba. pre-trade the only warriors who had a positive on/off offensive rating were curry, green, moody, payton, and santos.

I wanted Buddy Heild GONE!!! he has single handedly been used to cripple the team defensively. Again I have no idea why he wasn't involved in this trade and why Moody is not playing over him.

theyre going to start podz or hield, but its worth noting the warriors are 5-0 with moody starting this year. even if you dont like the deal something had to be done for curry's sake. first 27 games this year curry only had a -10 or worse plus/minus two times. the last 14 games its happened 7 times. its not sustainable for him to carry this big of a load at his age or maybe any age and its likely his play is starting to suffer because of it. hopefully bringing in butler will give him a boost.
team announced on january 27th that kuminga's ankle injury would be reevaluated in two weeks. the warriors last game before the all star break is the 13th, at this point they may just hold him out until after the break.

i love jimmy so glad we got him....but not sure this move the needle much. i think warriors are slightly better but we still need another piece or two. if the warriors can flip kuminga and hield for another star type player then i'll feel better about the team.
i assume the next big move will come in the off-season...with jimmy signing a new contract i can see them going all in for next season.

Wiggins is better than Kuminga, but they gave up Wiggins instead. Kuminga is never gonna be an all-star so idk wtf the thought process is
