I know you’re not taking about The District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871How does a separate corporate entity of the States of America become a state?
You forgot the “again” part.Might as well go head and make the “dc statehood bill goes nowhere in the senate” thread
There's a reason u can walk to dc from MD but need to cross a bridge to get into VAOh, btw, highkey VA need to return Alexandria county to the District. It was separated for purposes. They need to respect Banneker’s borders.
I think a lot of PR would prefer actual independence from being a colony over being a state - the last "vote" they had didn't actually allow this third option - same thing happened with Hawaii. The Virgin Islands should absolutely become a state. If DC does get it tho, they gotta get PR out the way. shyt, VI majority Black and got no vote too.
DC is a federal territory - not a corporate entity. You can turn federal territories into states the same way we've always done it - through Congressional writHow does a separate corporate entity of the States of America become a state?

Because in 1790 when Virginia and Maryland both ceded the land their were only 3000 people there, and not enough white land owing males, the ones that were there keep voting in their previous states.Yes but I guess you don't know why it's never been a state

and of the the biggest one was during Reconstruction whites didn’t want the newly freed black population to hold political power kind of like today but you seem to support this, why
not really that hardWow, really??
I had no idea that many people lived in the District.

the bronx.....A borough, has 1.5 million ppl
You asked why hasn’t it ever became a state and I gave the main reason, which is they didn’t want to give political power to black people. That had nothing to do with why 1871 Act was created.
