People think you can make it by working hard...you can't...there are millions of people who work hard everyday and get nowhere everyday...hard work only puts you in a position to get an opportunity to be successfull...it is still up to you to recognize that opportunity and take advantage, and that has nothing to do with hard work.

College is just a money pit, and unless you are going for some STEM or Medical stuff you should not waste your time....the average person does not even finish college and ends up with a ton of debt before they are old enough to legally drink...and if the other half that do, half of them end up with debt that borderline ruins there life...

In a corporate environment, you are not as important as you think you are, don't work as hard as you think you do, and on average are so insignificant to the company that they can fire you and not miss a beat...

Nothing in this world really matters until it starts affecting white people.

People leave out that context and circumstances are at least as important as the effort you put in. It's a way of saying that if you don't make it, it's entirely your fault. Conveniently, those who live by that logic are usually rich Western persons who don't even realize the luck thay have of being born wher and when they were born.

Some I've heard:

- Beyonce is attractive, but she's not the perfect goddess everyone makes her out to be
- Not every Beatles' song is and instant classic, in fact there were way better acts in their era.
- Being gay is a choice, and "pray the gay away" programs are just a part of free speech as encourging curious people to come out.
- Hipsters have a decent subculture; they are merely adapting things from the past to a unique mix, and if you hate them, you just don't get it.
- We should actually :salute: overhyped things, because they have marketing geniuses that got them to that level.
- :pacspit: on Big bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Scandal and every last procedural/detective show
- The Walking Dead is one of the most engaging shows of all time (I've seen people give :comeon::wtb: over this one)

The Black Community
Hiphop does more harm to black people than good.

Hip hop, like any art form, is simply an expression of someone's perspective. Hip Hop is only detrimental if someone is an idiot or their parents aren't attentive enough, I don't see how hip hop is any more harmful than other genres. For every Rick Ross and Pusha T there's a Common and Talib Kweli, I don't see how hip hop has NEARLY as much effect on our children as violent movies or video games

I agree with both points here, but the damaging part of hip hop is the corporatism and exploitation of artists. The majority off them end up making as much as a public school teacher in their career (with the exception off the superstars like Ludacris, Jay, Em, etc.), and its another gross example of blacks signing their livelihood and hard work over to white hegemony to cake off of. That has a serious bounce back effect on both the macro and micro levels of community. The global CEOs continue to practice this crap and reap 99% of the artist's work while he gets only 1% and on the local level, kids grow up thinking they are going to have self-determination and make shytloads of money wheen that is highly unlikely and takes away from black kids pursuing other interests (another long story). But like Makaveli said, hip hop joins other genres of culture that are harmful to our youth in complex ways

Outside of Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire (as a group), and a small select few others......

white singer/songwriter/composers>>>>>black singer/songwriter/composers.

Breh :whoa:.

I like Dave Matthews Band too but lets all just calm down here.
