The C-suite/employee pay disparity is definitely astounding, I'm all with employees making more. But GM made $170 billion in revenue, what do people expect the CEO of a company that generates that much money to be paid?

100% agree with you. It's just they go at the big fish when often times union leadership is who you should have beef with for accepting shytty deals.

It's similar to what's going on with WGA and SAG strike. People were pointing out Bob Iger's salary, but that aint the main culprit in all this. You gotta press your union leadership to fight for your interests. We all know corporation's are gonna emphasize profit and shareholder satisfaction over the employees compensation and well-being. But unfortunately people don't educate themselves or mobilize until strikes are imminent

FTR: i'm a union member for another TV/Film union that isn't on strike

I think a flat multiple or percentage of worker(s) wages should be fair.

For example, if gm spends 10billion a year on employee salary and benefits. Give him 0.1% of that total spend as executive compensation. Thus, if mr. Ceo gets a 10% raise or bonus on a good fiscal year, so do his workers, all of them. And a similar structure for the coo, cfo, cio, etc.

Folks at the union aren't complaining cause his wage is high, they are complaining because his wage increased disproportionately to the workers since the 08 crisis

Satisfied workers are good workers. You don't want disgruntle employees working on the build of your vehicle. They are liable to leave your vehicle with a bunch of defects out of negligence or outright sabotage.
I know. That’s a problem too because they always disgruntled about something. They could everything they want then strike again over some bullshyt. Teachers union here in Chicago do it all the time.

So the alternative is to ignore them and end up with very high turnover(a lot of trucking companies arevery good at ending up in this rut) or....meet them halfway on the more reasonable of their demands. It's not always pretty but workers need to always have a say on some level. Building the attitude that they'll complain regardless even if they have everything is a rotten take. That's how you end up short staffed and training new folks every other week. Proven time and time again.

That's what they want..

It's way cheaper for them to pay ot than to properly staff..
