:manny:This is the game
it will harm the company in the short run. Institutional knowledge is not something you can teach on a whiteboard overnight.
Knowing who to talk to, technical expertise etc...They will end up rehiring most of the same people.

This is a natural consequence of their greed which government has been enabling since at least the 1970s.

You can't have excuses when employees demand higher wages whilst at the same time making record profits and talking about the growth of the company during shareholder meetings. It does not add up.

Without employees your company is worthless. It makes ZERO sense to avoid paying them to keep your company going.

This is like driving a car and refusing to check your tires, refusing to look under the hood and make sure everything is good, and refusing to fill up the gas tank all the way. You're setting yourself up for failure. These CEOS and rich politicians have been so hooked on making money that they're behaving like drug addicts. Have yall ever tried to talk to an addict who is about to get evicted for not paying rent? Have you ever talked to one who's injured and needs to go to a doctor? Nothing is more important to them than the thing they're hooked on, and they won't stop unless someone or something FORCES them to.

More of this is coming. Democrats love immigrants not because they give a shyt about human rights, but because they know they are an expendable work force that can be deployed as scabs in cases like this, but Republicans want them out. If you're in a red state and something like this pops off, you're fukked because they can't use Spanish speakers to fill the vacant roles. Conservatives want maximum power for employers and have no backup plan when employees tell their bosses to eat a dikk. If you're in a blue state, the best they can do is try to bullshyt the employees and do the bare minimum if they don't have enough immigrants to fill those roles. Neither party cares that much about labor, if they did bill Clinton wouldn't have clawed back legislation and signed nafta. George Bush wouldn't have put in those bullshyt tax cuts and Obama would have let said tax cuts expire. Both of them aren't loyal to America, they're loyal to their bank accounts.

With the levels of income inequality we're at right now, and the price of essentials getting higher and higher, you've got the recipe for a labor movement. Don't be shocked if workers start striking in October and November too, because if they're not working it's absolutely going to fukk up profits for the holiday season which is a HUGE deal for any big company.

100% agree with you. It's just they go at the big fish when often times union leadership is who you should have beef with for accepting shytty deals.

It's similar to what's going on with WGA and SAG strike. People were pointing out Bob Iger's salary, but that aint the main culprit in all this. You gotta press your union leadership to fight for your interests. We all know corporation's are gonna emphasize profit and shareholder satisfaction over the employees compensation and well-being. But unfortunately people don't educate themselves or mobilize until strikes are imminent

FTR: i'm a union member for another TV/Film union that isn't on strike

What do you do?

Yep. The plant here in TN that makes the Lyriq still working for now.

Nah. The contract expired today. This was gonna happen regardless of the president.

Also during the mandatory UAW presentation during orientation (for GM anyway) they show a video basically encouraging workers to vote for pro-union politicians. The video shows mostly Dems.
Democrats lean towards pro-Union. Republicans lean against. @Windows 91 your post was confusing my guy. If you think a strike will help Republicans I can tell you horror stories about the great red state of Louisiana.

The average rent in say, St Tammany Parish is like 1600 bucks. You couldn't say that 5 years ago. People would have laughed at you. Competitive wages is considered $22/hr with a college degree and experience. You read that right. Starting out fresh? 19/hr maybe. You'll have good benefits though.

I'll let you guys do the math.

They're going to try moving even more production to Mexico off this :francis:

That Union shyt works in a world of trade barriers.

If the company can't pivot and make shyt in Mexico or China, then the Unions have power.

But since the trade barriers were dropped (NAFTA and shyt like that).. companies have other options.

I saw this happen with a large mfg company I worked for. The Union would not work with them and accept the compensation they were offering. So they just said fukc it. Closed every plant in NE Ohio and just started making their shyt down south and overseas.

They closed every plant in the town that the company was born in. shyt was cold blooded.

I'm not anti union, but if they can hire 8 Chinese for what they pay one American.. and the American works 4 hours a day (cause they sleep on the job and make sure things take 2x as long as they have to) while the Chinese all work 12 hours a day.. theres simply no way to compete.

Would you hire a union worker to cut your grass once for $200 or pay a Mexican $200 for the whole Summer. The Union worker will play his radio and be in your yard for 8 hours mostly just chilling smoking a cig. The Mexican will cut that shyt and be gone before 9am and all you'll hear is the mower.

That’s a lie…at least on the national level.

Teamsters, UAW funded numerous campaigns during the civil rights era

According to this book I read, the two-tier pay system was created for black union workers to get paid at a lesser rate than whites..

Blacks had to basically have separate union representation..

They ain't really fukk wit us like that :francis:

I know the construction unions in NYC, Philly, Chicago were historically racist. Irish, Italian, poles had them unions in a death grip

nikkas won't be getting they Camaros :mjlol:
It's ending production anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the production run short due to this. Sidenote: if you have a ZL1 1LE I'd keep it stock, as that car (and the former Z28) will be collectibles.
