If you think it's pretentious :yeshrug:
It is a little heavy handed with the message :yeshrug:
But vapid? :mjlol:
Are you sure that's the word you meant to use? Can a song be both pretentious and vapid? :ohhh:
His rhyming and the execution of the story/concept is definitely impressive though.
Yeah, it's vapid because it's not intellectually stimulating and it's pretentious because it pretends to be saying something of depth while being an exercise in ego.

:dahell:Hes executing a concept in narrative form. How's that not intellectually stimulating? Unless you find the overwhelming majority of hip hop to be vapid? :manny:
I don't see it pretentious in that regard. More in that he's taking the position that his shyt is so important and mainstream shyt is completely brainless. I don't agree, but I can see that.

:mjlol: I figured you your response would be some corny dweeb bullshyt like this. This song does not go beyond my intelligence, it goes beyond yours. There's nothing deep or intellectually stimulating about this song. It's just pretentious ego-stroking bluster disguised as depth and complexity. I would've been impressed by this shyt when I was about 17 maybe. You probably think Behold A Pale Horse is "knowledge dropping" and learned everything you know from rap and conspiracy videos on youtube.

"Dweeb" and you calling anyone corny lol. From the conversations I've had in the past you've exposed yourself as a pseudo intellectual coward with no integrity or morality. :deadmanny: at it going beyond mine, what a pathetic childish reach, just repeating the same thing back at me like a little school girl. There is a massive amount that is deep and intellectually stimulating about it, that's probably why you reject it.

Ok so, DJ Premier rates K-Rino highly and has named some of his songs as some of the best songs of the years and said he would LOVE to do an album with him, is DJ Premier a "dweeb" too?

Please answer these points, or let's see if you cower further.

My opinions are more in line with Bun B, T-La Rock, Wise Intelligent, Scarface, Trae Tha Truth, Killer Mike and many others about K-Rino, yours align with IR on here lmao, who's your biggest ally in the conversation.

Like I said, I'll be back to break down all this bullshyt later, can just do quick messages right now.

Oh interesting, so people talking about writing rhymes too lol. I will bet 5 g's that I can write a better song/rhyme than any of you motherfukkers talking shyt. We could get Chuck D to judge it, I would love to show and prove how ridiculous you guys are lol. Holla at me if wanna do it, cause I'm down. And I'm not even a rapper, but I will show you the vast difference in the knowledge and execution of lyricism from the nonsense you talking.

The joke is.. I used to write rhymes like this when I was 15. Particularly after the Matrix came out. But then I realized my flow was garbage and I wasn't saying anything profound.

Songwriting is a skill. Writing rhymes is far more poetry than prose. K-Rino's track is essentially prose spoken out loud. Respectfully, that makes it trash. And it's not even good prose.

Full sentences tend to sound terrible in rap. Especially one right after the other. It kills the intensity of the song.
In addition, this dude starts off several bars in a row using conjunctive adverbs.
"As my thought", "Then I stood", "Then I told"...
Conjunctive adverbs can be clunky. Using them to start a sentence kills the immediacy of what's happening. Instead of saying "then I told him: xyz", just say "xyz" (the actual dialogue). Remove the fluff.

Great rhyming is more about being vivid and having 'darts' of imaginative shyt. Evocative phrases.

Compare how much more fluid this is:

Here come the vultures, the Mobb-laced potent rap shyt
Perhaps, kid, make it happen, start the flipping
You fukking comic, who you kidding?
My nikka's laughing, blood bathin, the world's greatest

In-famous crime-zanous
To interfere would be dangerous
Plane descent, stand clear, save your strength

That stuff is miles ahead of what K-Rino's doing.

Hope that helps.
Yeah, the whole concept that people need to be "deprogrammed" or disconnected from some "matrix" is juvenile stuff for angst-ridden white teenagers on some "fukk society dude!" shyt. It's an infant stage of understanding you're supposed to grow out of.

On a side note the Matrix was a great movie, but unfortunately it brought out the smartdumb nikka in a lot of people. The whole "brain in the jar" perception/reality thought experiment thing is nothing new or deep to anybody who with a decent education.

And of course K-Hippo, like other mediocre minds who fancy themselves possessing of a higher level of understanding than the masses always stroke their own ego by telling themselves and others that, as he does in this song. He casts himself in the role of the doctor "deprogramming" the patient because of course, he's like so enlightened!

He's not even subtle with it. He ends the song saying "Yes, I know that's why you're the students and I'm the master." :shaq2:

He basically said you're ignorant because you're "programmed" by mainstream rap music (which is a flimsy, lazy premise in the first place) and I am here to open your mind because I'm like really smart and stuff and I'm gonna make up a silly metaphorical story where I'm a doctor and you're a patient and use a horrible hook and an ear-grating delivery. :mjlol: Pretentious, self-aggrandizing, pseudointellectual...not impressed. It's designed to appeal to mental midgets like @The Ruler 09 who think they're smart because they watched some bullshyt conspiracy videos on youtube and listened to a Ras Kass album.

^^^ At this dumb b*stard, reading this is hilarious, the simplness is astounding, like I said I'll be back later, but holla at me if you wanna accept my challenge, or let's see if people gonna actually prove what they say or cower and run away when it comes down to it cause they are full of shyt and deep down inside even know that.

Let's just change this thread to K-Rhino's corniest songs thread

You are a tool and the Hidden Hand is using you :ohhh:
Please don't be delusional, the rulers of this world practice confusing you :sadcam:
The people and the priest and the imams
Have been jammed by government scams, mind systematically programmed :whew:

Just flip your one dollar bill over:francis:
And if you want me to expose the true code of deception, I will show ya:hamster:
We live in a designed wicked system
The number 13 is consistent in Masonic symbolism :ehh:
It represents transformation, 12 completes the cycle
So 13 is rebirth and regeneration :whoa:
The meanings of this symbol are strategically hid
On the left side you see a 13 layer pyramid :dwillhuh:

this nikka is the WOAT :dead:

There's nothing deep or intellectually stimulating about it to me. It's deep and intellectually stimulating to you.

Reading Friedrich Nietzsche is intellectually stimulating to me. Listening to smartdumb raps from 45 year old Jiffy Lube techs is intellectually stimulating to you.

Regarding Primo, Bun B or whoever liking K-Platypus, that has zero relevance to this discussion. That is something called an "argument from authority," which is a logical fallacy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_authority

I don't expect someone who thinks this lame ass song is "genius" to be too keen on the study of logic though.

But seriously, why do you literally get MAD at people for not liking your favorite rapper? :heh: Do you realize how bytchmade that is?

Bruh he does all the shyt you said while promoting religion to add to his smart dumbness. And I have no issue with religious themes in music, cant escape the shyt even though I hate religion, but this nikka has shyt where he's talkin about demons and devils n shyt while his brand of magic is the right brand :heh:

I can't escape how dumb this nikka is... this nikka is really a oil change tech at Lube Pros and this dumb nikka @The Ruler 09 thinks this shyt is profound :bryan:

Yeah, I do find most hip-hop nowadays to be vapid. Most hip-hop and most music in general is not intellectually stimulating, it's emotionally stimulating. Nas is the GOAT to me, but it's not because of his intellect as much as it is his poetic ability. I don't expect Nas and other emcees I admire to teach me as much as illustrate to me and present work that is aesthetically pleasing.

"Every idea and dream he ever dreamed
Told my secretary Jean to bring me a nectarine"

:mjlol:

I wonder how Juicy would have sounded if K-rino had wrote it.

"It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine while eating a nectarine,
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine,
robots outside shooting laser beams."

The notion that music has to be intellectually stimulating for it to hold value is preposterous. Does that mean Chuck Berry wasn't a genius?

Having said that; this song is cool whatever. Nothing really genius about it. Peep how he randomly threw in the word nectarine just because it rhymed with dream tho:russ:

I wish someone could archive this somewhere where all Nas fans and his management team could see.

Nas is my favorite rapper ever. I try to explain to Nas stans that Nas falters when he tries to be intellectual, political and such. The reason why people love the shyt out of Illmatic is because that was Nas at his most poetic mixed with beats at their most poetic.

When Nas gets an evocative beat that illustrates an environment/scenario, he sounds INCREDIBLE. Every time. "Made You Look." "Nas Is Like". "Talk of New York". etc. Because that's what Nas does best: paint pictures. When Nas gets a beat that doesn't have much atmosphere and cinema to it, Nas becomes boring.
