The deal is going to go through, I'm sure. Hopefully not though
But man the aftermath is going to be great.
I want to see the mental gymnastic people do when xbox uses their money in the same way sony uses their market cap.
Locking down popular titles for years, dlc exclusives, marketing rights... :whew:

Sony stans "Oh now it's ok since MS is doing it, you didn't like it when sony did it" :mjlol:
"MS gotta buy their way to the top"
"It's not organic"

I mean sure if you ignore actual reality all of this makes perfect sense :ehh:

In a world where Minecraft isn’t Microsoft’s biggest gaming success ever.

Where sea of theives isn’t a thriving new IP.

Where Forza Horzon hasn’t Put the entire Arcade Racing genre on its back.

Where gamepass hasn’t been a very successful addition to their business.
Where gaming cloud services and deals have not been lucrative

Where xbox hasn’t been breaking its own revenue records and console sales records.

Where all the upcoming stuff like Hellblade, Avowed, Starfield don’t exist.

2021 publisher of the year? who cares?

Yeah, i mean phil ain’t done shyt if you really look at it :ohhh:
I hear ya, but in the 8+ year time only having Sea of Thieves as the major new franchise isn't that good. I do agree that Forza Horizon became a blockbuster IP, but in 8+ they should've developed or took new franchises to new heights, and they didn't

I agree potential is there with Hellblade, Avowed, Starfield, and surprises. However, MS should've established more IPs and franchises in 8+ years. While gamepass is great, they still dropped the ball in making their marquee franchise in Halo go in the dirt. Anyways, I think the time is now and if he doesn't turn it around in 2 years of having consistent releases of games then he should be gone imo.

They could have been doing that for the pat 10 years like they did on the 360 :mjlol:

How many did sony establish in the PS3 era? 3 tops uncharted, gow and... idk really. Everything else was 3rd party that is now 1st party or it was long ongoing ip's. Basically just like the xb1 generation was for MS. This generation for MS is shaping up to be their "PS4" generation.

They haven't been and yall still worried about them being a monopoly in some alternate future timeline

They haven’t been because publishers don’t want to sign exclusivity deals for dead and/or dying platforms. Microsoft dropped the ball on making the xbox one appealing so of course publishers didn’t want their games to die on it

Same reason publishers weren’t dying to sign stadia and luna exclusive deals

:mjlol:If you believe that I have a pond I want to sale you.

Money talks, it's the whole reason you master is renting out time at the CMA trying to block the deal.

Cmon now those IPs were taken to new heights from the PS3 to PS5 and Microsoft's IPs went on the decline from 360 to now. Phil has been selling potential since he got there and the only way we've seen potential was from the buyout of Obsidian and Bethesda. So far the studios that they had before the acquisition spree only created Sea of Thieves and devalued the Halo brand and Gears remained stagnant. Anyways, they can turn it around by having a strong 2023, but they need to remain consistent and in 8+ years they should've had much better output. There's a reason why many xbox only gamers have either moved to a PS5 or got a PS5 as a secondary console because Phil's tenure was empty promises.

Agreed. Halo and Gears IP are dead.

It would be the equivalent of sony still out here trying to sell Resistance and Infamous as premiere first party titles and now I hear The Coalition cancelled its other games and they’re back to working on Gears 6. Microsoft just doesn’t get it

:dead:

That’s two new franchises in that time. They’ve also taken Minecraft to new heights. And some some really good legacy stuff like Backwards comparability and bringing back stuff like Golden Eye and Age of empires.

This year even had stuf like grounded, pentiment and hifi rush. Now i know those may not make WinB jealous:mjlol: but they are great games and new IP under phil nonetheless.

Big Games take 5-6 years to develop especially taking about building new team and games from the ground up. Not really sure where all these games should be coming from in the time he’s been there.

Xbox has turned their business around big time in those 8 years. The games from the deals signed during that time are just now starting to come out.

This is only true in forum stan discourse.

In reality their big 3 have found successful footing from 360 till now.
