you know we ALL clown Pachter. Dude is a goofy.
Yes, but dude is also a professional.

Y’all post tweets from random cacs in their moms basement as truth but wanna scoff at the opinion of an actual industry analyst. He’s not the only one to say the deal is still very likely either. In fact, no one with actual professional industry experience is saying this statement kills microsoft’s chances.

It lays out some clear very paths for microsoft to follow. I’m not even sure why some of you started celebrating as of the deal was blocked.

Breh, what are you arguing about here? I already agreed with these things. The fukk are you on?

Literally, the post I made originally was that Sony complaining to the CMA about buying up third-party published games and gating them was hypocritical considering they do the exact same thing. That's it.

Y'all came in here with a bunch of arguments that had nothing to do with this post. Well, it's not exactly the same. I know, breh. No one said that it was exactly 1:1, just that Sony making an argument about this shyt to the CMA while indulging in it is a terrible argument. Well, FF sells more on Sony. Agreed. Sony's argument to the CMA re: third-party published exclusives is still hypocritical and a poor argument considering the current state of the business. Well, Xbox does it too. No shyt. Not only did I mention Bethesda, but Microsoft moneyhatting Tomb Raider for some reason when most of TR's fanbase is on Sony.

Some of y'all brehs don't read or comprehend and just start typing.

Again, if you think Sony buying FF exclusivity is fine because Microsoft players don't care about FF enough, that's a valid position, just one I don't share. My argument is broadly that moneyhatting third-party developed AND published games is bad. At least spend the money to publish the shyt that you gate onto your console. Y'all disagree. That's cool.
You don't have to argue against positions that no one is actually taking to defend that position though. :dead:

Doesn't affect me either. Bethesda affected me way more. Microsoft badly needs this, though, yeah. I think the game industry needs more third-party publishers, not fewer, and I'm against the purchase on those grounds. Buying independent devs is one thing - Microsoft probably helped Double Fine exist for longer by buying them, actually. Sony buying Bluepoint or Nintendo buying Next Level makes sense, too, since those devs worked closely with those publishers for years before getting acquired.

I just prefer the big third-party publishers not to be acquired.

Sony is being hypocritical only in theory. The reality is, MS is buying away third party support from Sony to hinder them. A few timed exclusive deals from Sony with IPs that never sold well on MS consoles isn't exactly going to hinder MS.

If me and you both owned competing shoe stores, with our own in-store brands plus all the major brands, and you decided your money was long enough to buy Nike one day, which generated most of the sales for both of our stores, it wouldn't really make much sense to rationalize it with "but your in-store brand is more successful than ours, and you secured a few exclusive Adidas Ultraboost or Yeezy colorways so its fair". Making Nike exclusive is something that can have substantial impact on my shoe store, and not just mine, but Nvidia's store, Google's store, etc. The worst COD games still fukk around and sell over 20-25m every year. This is literally the biggest IP in the industry.

How that man still is CEO after nine years still surprises me. Nine years of complete and utter failure. Jim Ryan gets more hate yet look at his record.
Greatest snakeoil salesman of all time in gaming. He's been in charge for 8+ years and hasn't had a signature moment except for gamepass. i like gamepass, but not being able to establish a new IP in 9 years is a disaster imo.

In that timeframe Sony was able to develop: TLOU, Spiderman and Wolverine, took God of War to new heights, TLOU achieving in both film and gaming when most though Gears and Halo could've some success in that space, Returnal, and they have other studios cooking new IPs. Meanwhile, Microsoft only major success to release those levels was Forza Horizon series and they never really pushed Gears to new heights and Halo bombed for this new generation of gamers.

Also, Nintendo was even able to develop new IP with Splatoon, and took their existing IPs to new heights

Anyways, Satya really needs to look at replacing Phil because with Microsoft resources they shouldn't have these blunders and barren years like 2022. If they knew it was going to be a bad year then they should've worked on third party deals becuase the barren 2022 will most likely cost Microsoft another gen where Sony outsells them 2:1

But he stay being wrong!!!! :why:

He's as credible as :skip:
You can’t be a paid industry analyst for decades and be always wrong.

Gamers just remember the times he was wrong when he said something negative about their favorite product. All the times he’s correct his investors or those following him just quietly make some money.

Phil Spencer has been in charge of xbox almost half as long as xbox has existed. Really think about that

Damn the fact that Microsoft is going through all this bullshyt and they have to sell off call of duty. You know damn well Microsoft don’t give a fukk about the rest of the dusty ass activision IP. They might as well say fukk the deal.

I mean sure if you ignore actual reality all of this makes perfect sense :ehh:

In a world where Minecraft isn’t Microsoft’s biggest gaming success ever.

Where sea of theives isn’t a thriving new IP.

Where Forza Horzon hasn’t Put the entire Arcade Racing genre on its back.

Where gamepass hasn’t been a very successful addition to their business.
Where gaming cloud services and deals have not been lucrative

Where xbox hasn’t been breaking its own revenue records and console sales records.

Where all the upcoming stuff like Hellblade, Avowed, Starfield don’t exist.

2021 publisher of the year? who cares?

Yeah, i mean phil ain’t done shyt if you really look at it :ohhh:
