How the fukk have I never made beats?

I have lived with well known producers. I've had software and hardware around the crib at various points in my life, and I spend at least a couple hours each week looking for samples to tracks I like. When I listen to hip-hop 75% of the time I'm trying to listen for chops in the beat, trying to figure out if they used a break or programmed the drums manually, etc. Once I thinks I've got it down in the car when I listen to music I air chop the way people play air guitar or air drums.

All of this and I've never actually tried to get busy.

I have to be the only person over 30 that's never made beats that sits around thinking " :jbhmm:I wonder if I didn't quantize how on point my rhythm would be if I programmed drums." I played drums so I figure pretty good, but I bet no one that doesn't make beats thinks about shyt like that.

:snoop: At this point I think I'm too old but I should've done it a long time ago. I feel more at home talking about crate digging and beats than I do talking about lyrics and rhyme schemes.

Moved from reason to studio one and I feel like I’ve been released from prison. The workflow is so much better
