The truth about Kobe Bryant

I've responded to a few people here about this, and I had to make a thread.

In the last few days, I've run into people who say he is the second best player ever if he gets 7 titles, people laugh out loud when I say he isn't top five ever, people say that Kobe's peak is better than Wade's, and more.

Let's be real for one second. Just once, let look at his career objectively.

I'm break it down here why Bryant was never the best player in the game conclusively at any point in his career:

Stop making it seem like it's crazy to say Bryant isn't the best player of his generation. Bryant was NEVER the best player in the game conclusively at any point, and he is getting overrated because of his legacy and the titles he piled in because he landed on a great Laker team after scaring the Nets away from drafting him in 96.

Bryant is a 1st ballot HOF. Dude is one of the greats. Best since Jordan? No. Top five ever? No.

He's in the discussion to be amongst the 10 best ever. That's the fairest way to put his actual production up in the All-time comparison.

Winning NBA titles is almost entirely about circumstances. Teams with multiple all-stars usually win titles, and Bryant was a great second option to the most dominant player of our generation for three titles, and won another two with an All-Star Power forward and a cast of above average guys around that (Bynum, Odom).

Bryant has NEVER won a playoff series with Pau Gasol or Shaquille O'Neal. And I'm not knocking him for it. But by the same token, re4alize it's a team accomplishment in context and don't play the 'he has five rings' game in a conversation where history suggests winning titles is about circumstances.

Shaq - No. And that's only because Shaq didn't have the work ethic. As great as he was, he could have been much much better. Kobe was just too important to helping Shaq win his championships.

Wilt - If Shaq wasn't better than Kobe then Wilt definitely isn't better

Kareem - Interseting, very interesting. I think the best case could be made for Kareem

Lebron - Lebron James is not a better player all time than Kobe right now. Nah!
