the trash graphics & animation of fallout 4 are unacceptable for a AAA-budget game in 2015. its time you stans stopped being dikk lickers and demand better a product from these developers and stop letting them coast by on reputation alone. i've seen stans defend bethesa by convincing themselves these are amazing cutting-edge graphics. the level of self-delusion you see in gamers today is sickening

Idk breh.. If Fallout 4 was a cross gen game that'd be fine. The problem is it's not. It's a next gen game if you may. They should've made a new engine to start off new. It doesn't need to look like The Order or Ryse but something on the level of at least something modern.

I'm agreeing with the OP that Fallout 4 should've been made on a new engine. The graphics are serviceable given for the scale of the game but that's besides the point. I'm on PC, I can make the game look better with mods and brute hardware. The game still "looks" last gen. The engine is long in the tooth.
It really feels like I'm playing Fallout 3.5. It's literally the GAME X.5 argument I see often thrown around.

I'm not buying the "Well in Fallout you can carry buckets and forks on you" argument. Any game that's being made for a new gen should look immediately better than it's last gen counterpart. FO4 looks just a tad bit better. It doesn't have that "next gen" look. GTA V has better graphics.

Granted we're not gonna be getting that hyper realistic graphics. i think the designers was going that semi cartoony updaated look. but if you noticed alot of things looks amazing. like the sky, when it rains, the lighting, the sounds when there's gunfire, the bomb and fire effects....

Goddamnit it's a fallout game, just enjoy it!!!

OH trust me I enjoy the game. I'm just saying the performance and visuals don't match. The game should run like a hot knife through butter. Doesn't bother me though. I know there's mods coming on PC that will make it look even better.

people say "make a new engine" like it's something easy. the only people that make a new engine from scratch are those that don't have one in the first place. everyone else iterates their existing engine. especially a game like this that has specific needs as far as being an open world, with item persistence, and such. this engine has been specifically designed to handle their specific needs. you can't expect to throw this together with UE4 and have it work

IMO the models and animations look dated, but some of the lighting effects look pretty nice. it does use shader 3.0, tesselation, and other effects that weren't seen in previous bethesda titles

its funny you say that cuz i have played games with 10 times better graphic yet i only pick up the controller once, whereas games like madden and fallout i keep for many many months

The graphics should have been better but so far I'm enjoying the game overall. The new town building mechanics are a dope addition and scratches my Minecraft/the sims itch while playing this game. The pacing is much better in this game than in 3. I wouldn't give it GOTY yet but its been very fun.
