I remember early on in ToG, there were a bunch of floating theories about Baam's real identity. It was mostly before Arlene and V came into clearer view. I spent a really long time assuming Phantaminum was directly tied to Baam. He either created Baam (because he's an exis), he was reborn as Baam, or something similar.

t would explain why Yuri (the only survivor of Phantaminum's attack besides Zahard) knew to go to the first floor right when Baam appeared. She was quick to give him a 13 Months Needle too; and now we know just how important those are to the princesses.

Edit: Found some of my old comments on it from 2013...I've been stuck on this Phantaminum link for 10 damned years.

I’m going to have to get a synopsis on this whole story. Because I don’t remember so much. I might have to read it all over if there’s no wiki.

The ToG wiki has fallen off something fierce. But they've got a decent entry on Phantaminum.


One day, Phantaminum suddenly appeared in the Tower and breached Zahard's inner palace, massacring many royals and courtiers, all of whom were high-level Rankers. He successfully shattered all lines of defense and ultimately faced Zahard, but he vanished without a fight. When Phantaminum broke into the palace, it is said he met Ha Yuri Zahard in the inner palace. There is a great diversity of opinion as to why he didn't kill her. Yuri Zahard didn't say anything about the matter except that, "He was a dirty one" (더러운 놈, "scumbag").

So, long story short, Phantaminum shows up and bodies EVERYONE. Anyone he passes either dies or goes crazy, to the extent that people don't even know how he fights (nickname the Riddle). He marches right up to Zahard and disappears...

The only two things we know are that he got to Zahard before dipping without a fight and that the one exception to the "dead or crazy" effect is Yuri.

There's one more bit about Phantaminum though, he's an Axis User aka an Author.
Being an Axis, Phantaminum possesses a power that, when compared to a normal individual, is close to that of a god. This is because normally, the will and actions of an Axis can only be prevented by an Axis of higher level, and a non-Axis has no chance against an Axis in battle. In short, Phantaminum can only be defeated by a more powerful Axis. He is said to be one of the most powerful Axis in the universe.

As an Axis, Phantaminum is the "author", or god, of one "story" in the universe. In exchange for taking on the responsibility of managing this story, he is given a powerful authority over the events that occur in the story. He is able to "write" records that cannot be erased or changed.

Every Axis has the power to generate a space around them, in which they can use a unique power that cannot be denied or negated. Under the specifications of this ability, Phantaminum can control some aspects of reality within his own field. Phantaminum's power, however, is unknown. Axis primarily have the ability to control the reality of a finite amount of space around them.

So the attack on Zahard's palace is absolutely important and the Axis powers felt like they'd come into play at some point (I think the book motif in this arc might be a tie-in). That's where most speculation came from.

To add in to the fun, the bold parts were where theories about Baam's cave picked up. Purely on speculation, the cave could be a space created by an Axis since it seems detached from both the Tower and the Outside of the Tower. Then it was all theories building from that spec...
- Maybe Baam's an Axis, therefore unaffected by shinsoo.
- Maybe Baam is the creation of an Axis (ie: Phantaminum). This one got dumped by V and Arlene being Baam's parents.
- Maybe Baam is the result of whatever Zahard/Phantaminum did to make the dude vanish.

As much as I like this Manwa… the shyt that I hate the most is this….EVERY FUKKIN THING is a game… like come the fukk on breh.. oh you need to go outside to your car.. well… instead of walking ya azz downstairs to do that shyt.. you gotta play this game .. the game of finding your fukkin keys first… oh and when you’re done with the game of finding your fukkin keys… you gotta play this other fukkin game.. the game of taking the fukkin the stairs but you gotta go through the window first .. do some dumb shyt… .. then come back and then use the fukkin stairs… like come the fukk on.. get to the fukkin point.. why the fukk every fukkin thing gotta be a fukkin game
