I've been dying to see the combat in this series animated...that said, I'm a bit disappointed with how the Wall of Peace arc seems to be ending but it probably served its purpose to a T. We reinforced Bigg K's overwhelming power with his fight against White; introduced some new powerful warriors along with more history; raised the stakes on the next major arc with power players' loyalties in the balance; and created more questions about who's pulling what strings...not bad. I'm hoping we get a payoff via the Ranker war going on outside and then I'm assuming another Baam training arc (Yama and the dog gang teaching Baam transformation better maybe).

There is a terrible precedent which SIU has set and is affecting the overall quality of this series. Its the same disastrous choice that affected Bleach -- the constant need to stockpiled abilities into the MC. It started around the Floor of Death and went into full overdrive in the Hell Train Arc. As it stands Baam has (a) Bloodline of TWO Tower Conquering Irregulars (b) Immense Shinsoo Pool (c) Two Guardians (d THORN!!!! (e) 1000 Souls (f) Accelerated Information Acquisition. From the Beginning we're informed his potential is insane -- his weakness is his physical condition. The entire purpose of the training was assist him overcome this. However, now he can b*stardize and claim powers to match whatever goal "plot" deems necessary. Its such a lazy method of growth and creates too many useless modes (which could be forgiven if they weren't so unaesthetic and uninspired) without clear defined benefits. Workshop Baam is the best iteration (as a character). RN Baam is a charismaless Ichigo with a ponytail. The implications of his current version means we have to consider Baam has the OR can choose to have the power of every single character he has encountered. All of which is done for him to compensate for the fact -- he is STILL not physically as strong as Rankers he insists on competing with -- so lets have him throw even bigger balls of Shinsoo. I'm so fukking done with this Arc.

I hope we see Baam's uncle Luslec soon, that history of V and Arlene ought to follow soon after. Every time I think the plot is gonna hit a lull, we get something major or a revelation that makes everything wild. It seems like the all out war is coming way faster than I expected. I kinda hope the Wingtree gang gets roped into all this somehow but it'd probably get convoluted with too many players.

I always viewed it as a one punch man thing. shyt is more about everyone else around and his abilities and fate are the nucleus that brings them all together

He's not gonna have his back pressed against the wall forreal until we get a full assessment of everything happening around him

The powerups don't bother me. I think the characters around him could be progressing a little faster though. Baam was never one with a large personality. Seeing him tell Kalavan "I'm coming see you :birdman:" showed me he is gaining confidence in his abilities where before he would have not done that.

Yep, in ToG, I've always looked at it as more about what the tradeoffs are for Baam to attain the power he needs. It seemed implied to me that he could have progressed even faster if he embraced the dark entities inside of himself and the pressure to progress more quickly grows as he sees his failures...and those "failures" are escalating. It used to be a companion gets caught, then companions dying or betraying him, now he helped guide an entire race into a genocidal trap. He also almost lost it just over Rachel at one point.

I feel like the two motifs I can call to mind repeatedly throughout the story have been what people will sacrifice for power (White sacrificed souls, Hell Joe lost himself to the red thryssa and Baam has had to deny power to keep his own) and then duty vs wants (Baam wants to follow Rachel; Kallavan won't break an order; Jinsung Ha sort of traded his duty to FUG because he wanted to help Baam and is paying the price).

His team is pretty strong for a group of regulars.

They aren't gonna be progressing no where as fast as Baam, due to him being an irregular
But see this is my issue

He HAS those teammates he just is never with them

Anak
Androssi with bon bon
Ran
Laure with leeso giving him coordinates
Hatsu

+ Ice Koon with phoenix buff
Rak with stone buff
White (who still isnt at full strength Cac level yet)

Could be a cotdamn beast of a team but SIU keeps replacing them with mids
