I went to a conference in ATL last year, and the organizer told me that a week before the event, the venue jacked up the price by several thousand dollars. And this was for a regular event, nothing political or “radical” like what Tariq is doing.

So good for him. Hopefully I can make it down there.

Right. A decent venue is not cheap and depending on what you're trying to do, you have to deal with the venue not wanting to rent it out to you.
