Saw it last night,

Film has interesting ideas but struggles with properly engaging them, so it just settles in with over the top fukkery. It's not bad but it doesn't really take the steps to be great either. Film unfortunately halfway through became all about shock and awe without leaving the audience with something to remember decades later like Carrie does in it's conclusion (which this references or bites depending on how you look at it). I also thought it was a missed opportunity to not have Sue centered around something internet/social media related. TV is outdated for someone like her coming up.

Themes of body dysmorphia, societal pressures placed on women's looks, ageism, male gaze, and competition between women are all great ideas on paper but this is still a movie, and the plot should take priority. A lot of young writers seem to write scripts around ideas rather than writing a good story, and then expanding on ideas within them.

Also, too many writers getting their Tarantino on where every single scene is referencing other movies, and not just obscure films either, we're talking about well known films....like c'mon fam.

Positives was obviously the practical effects and the score was good too. Demi Moore also with a great late career performance as well.

I ain't gon hold you.

The one drawback despite how great the movie..

It felt too much like a Tales From the Crypt episode by the end. Still gets credit for even though it lost me a bit there were parts that still legit shocked me.
I was rewatching Tales From the Crypt (still great btw) and Demi Moore starred in one of the early episodes, just before she blew up with Ghost.
