This is a really good film, but got damn, how do you fukk up the ending? That demonic bloodbath shot with the music was so out of place. It’s like the writer went on an acid/mushroom trip and threw shyt on the wall.
The body horror was great. Demi was good. Not Academy winner good, but still good. Quaid’s character was an annoying c*nt i wanted to punch in the face. I wasn’t expecting so much nudity, and not just that but the shots they used.
Regarding a part in the end:
Why did they have the showgirls have their titties out for a tv special? And not just that, but kids were in the audience. Really creep shyt.
This is a movie that will probably be more enjoyable on rewatches, despite the ending.
It’s crazy how many well known actors were in Tales. I watched the one with Pesci recently and I remembered the ending from watching it back in the day.
I thought it was amazing, prob my second favorite movie of the year. The ending was ridiculous but worked. One thing I disagree with is the idea that just because there's body horror the film is "Cronenberg-ian" or whatever. Feels like watching a random crime film with a bank robbery scene and saying it's Mann-like. The tone never really felt like Cronenberg's body horror stuff (The Fly, for instance). If anything the comical satire tone felt more like a Verhoeven film to me.
First time I saw the end of this movie I was on edibles and my brain couldn’t really process what I was seeing
Like I was seeing it but nothing was registering. It was just weird images. But then I watched the ending again the next day and actually understood what the hell it was supposed to mean and it was very enjoyable.
