To me seems like FX's shows have been really shoestring budget the last year or so, and it's showing noticeably. Kinda reminded me of 'The Night Flier'. I don't need my vampires to be suave seductive counts, but the monstrous ones aren't as scary as the more human, down to earth, 'Martin' type vampires. I'll watch the second episode, but I wasn't overly impressed.

Who cares how original the take on vampires is, this show is wack as fukk so far.:mjlol: Like....bad enough that it might not even get a second chance. Worse than Tyrant's debut and I never gave Tyrant a second chance

The part where the vampire sucked dude dry then smashed his face in was awesome, really the only good moment of the first episode.

I don't know....bad timing for me I guess, I just got done reading the novel Fevre Dream which had a crazy good spin on the vampire myth, so I'm over that part of it already.

LMAO, I thought that scene was really corny (snap the guys neck, then bash it in:troll:).

Love the interaction between the Mexican/Rican smuggler and the vamp (the three rules) and the guy getting caught doing the autopsy.

The pilot was OK i guess, considering I've read some of the intial book (bad acting, plot continuing too fast)

Thats exactly why I thought it was awesome though. It was just so over the top and excessive :bryan:

He sucks him dry and snaps his neck and I said out loud to my wife "why the fukk would he do that...." but before I finish the sentence he is already turning his head to jello :deadmanny:

So needless and done blatantly for shock value:deadmanny:but I can't hate on them for doing it :manny:

I liked the pilot quite a bit actually :yeshrug:

I can't argue that some of the acting and dialogue was pretty bad but :manny:... still liked it and will watch again next week.

It's pretty embarrassing to have dialogue as badly written and badly delivered as that gangster scene….That's just offensive, who lets that get through?

I haven't read the whole thread so my b if someone bought this up already but am I the only one tired of this trope in tv shows where you have the wife who doesn't understand what type of situation she married into? It's one thing to say the man is an absent husband or even a bad husband but to berate the man for being committed to his job when he works for the freaking CDC and has to deal with outbreaks, biochemical agents and weapons, toxins, and all around homeland security, give the dude a break. He's sitting there in the therapy session ignoring the phone every time it rings and then only answers it because it won't stop and he gets a call on his personal cell so obviously it was an emergency. I'm not mad at the character I'm mad at the writers because it's lazy as fukk when you want to create conflict to introduce the wife or husband who begrudges their spouse for doing their job when their job is something serious like his or being a cop or a fireman or a doctor.

I'd argue that FX is about high standards too. SOA and Rescue Me are definitely of the "just entertainment" shyt but Justified has been quality programming not just entertaining, Louie is breaking ground as far as what a sitcom can be, Archer has some of the best writing on tv and not just for an animated show, and It'a Always Sunny has consistently been one of the funniest things on tv. Not even everything on HBO is deep shyt

RIGHT! This nicca is watching the news broadcast about the panic at the airport and he walks up saying any man who puts your mom 2nd is a fool and then wants the kid, F's son, to agree with him? How you going to try to put a little kid against his dad, especially just for doing his damn job which just so happens to save the damn country on a regular basis whether he knows it or not. And clearly his wife is still feenin for him:killadamn:

:deadrose:

But dead ass tho, I agree. One thing I hate is when writers make smart characters stupid because the script says they need to be. She's a freaking therapist and his wife is clearly successful and a smart woman, why make them stupid to the point where they can't comprehend that a man that high up in the chain at a federal agency that deals with emergencies on a regular basis is going to be on call a lot. You want him to put his wife first? Ok cool so he should just ignore the shyt going on and let the world blow up or rot away...yeah I'm sure his wife would appreciate that seeing as how she wouldn't be alive if that happened. It's one thing to come home to your wife it's another to neglect your job to the point where you don't have a wife to come home to
